Leading architects and historic building consultants, Purcell Miller Tritton, have been appointed to undertake the redevelopment of the Grade II Listed Crown Hotel in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, for a local celebrity TV chef.

The 16th century coaching inn has recently been given planning permission to undergo a series of alterations and extensions, with the aim to update and improve its current facilities. The project will see the conversion of an existing outbuilding into 2 one-bed units, as well as extending the hotel to create 5 one-bed units within the walled garden. Other work will involve replacing the orangery with a larger, triangular-shaped public restaurant and seating area, and providing the hotel with improved disabled facilities.

Work is due to commence in the New Year on the £700,000 project with completion aimed for May 2008. Quantity Surveyor’s Phillip Pank and Partners, and Structural Engineer’s Scott Wilson have also been appointed to the project.

Mark Goldspink, CEO of Purcell Miller Tritton, commenting on the project said, “We are delighted to be working on a project that will require us to draw on our extensive knowledge and experience. Alteration and extension services can prove challenging due to the sensitive nature of the listed buildings, however with our specialist expertise we are looking forward to working on this exciting scheme.”
